Fast Travian Second Village: How Long Settling Really Takes

We tracked 13,101 accounts on 17 servers. On a 1x server the typical top-100 player founds their second village after 6 days; active casual players who settled within 14 days needed about 9. Compare median and average times by server speed, then plan your opener with the interactive checklist.

How long does it take to settle a second village in Travian?

On a normal-speed (1x) server, the middle top-100 player founds their second village about 6.0 days after the server starts. Among active casual players who settled within the 14-day observation window, the middle player took about 8.9 days. Only 62.5% of active casual players on 1x settled within that window; the rest are not included in this median. Among accounts that settled in the same window on faster servers, the clock shrinks, but top players stay ahead: roughly 2.9 days against 4.9 on 2x, and 1.9 against 3.0 on 3x.

These are real timings from tracked servers, not a theoretical build order. If you want a quick yardstick for a fast Travian second village, beat the middle player in your group. The sections below show exactly where that line sits, and the Second Village Guide gives you the checklist to get there.

Top players vs casual players: median and average settle times

Median is the middle settler: half settled sooner, half later. Average adds the times together and divides by the number of settlers; very late arrivals can pull it upward. Times below are in days after server start, among accounts that settled within 14 days.

Figure 1. Median days from server start to a second village, by server speed. Every bar starts at zero and shares a 0 to 10 day scale. Each value is accurate to about half a day. On the single 5x server, both medians were about 1.8 days in the same daily capture; we draw no comparison. 10x servers are excluded for the same resolution limit.

Who counts as a top player and who counts as a casual player?

Top players are the 100 highest-population accounts on their server at day 14. Casual players are active accounts ranked below them: their population grew between day 7 and day 14, so they were still playing, but they were not in the top 100.

We leave out accounts that stopped growing. Many players register, build a little, and never expand, so including them would make casual players look slower than the people who actually play. Everyone in the comparison started on the first daily snapshot of their server, so each had a fair chance to be fast.

The groups come from where players ended up, so they describe what strong and typical players did, not a promise that copying their pace will put you in the top 100.

Median or average: which number should you use?

Use the median as your target. It tells you what a player in the middle of the group actually did, and a few very late settlers cannot move it. Among top players the two numbers sit close together, because most of them settle inside a narrow window.

Casual players show why both numbers matter. On 3x servers their median is 3.0 days but their average is 3.6, because a slow tail of players settling a week or more in drags the average up. A time above the casual median is still within the observed range; these data cannot predict how much a build-order change would improve your result.

One more caution on casual players. We watched everyone for 14 days. On 1x servers 62.5% of active casual players had settled by then, which means the other 37.5% were still waiting. Their medians describe the players who settled inside that window, so this is a median among settlers, not a median for all active casual players. On 2x and 3x servers 77.8% and 90.2% had settled.

How does this compare with the settling world records?

The Unofficial Travian community keeps a Hall of Fame of the fastest second-village launch times. Its X1 leaderboard is led by Iker&Cavallazzo with 76:41:03 (about 3.2 days) on America 2, followed by Evan&Cavallazzo with 77:34:09 on Arabics 4. The speed records are 27:57:20 on X2, 17:08:02 on X3, 10:10:09 on X5 and 5:40:24 on X10.

A record is roughly half the time of a typical top-100 player. On 1x the record is about 3.2 days against our 6.0 day median. On 3x the record is about 0.7 days against 1.9. The fastest accounts we saw on 1x had a second village on the map after about 3.8 days, so the leaderboard really is a different league.

The two measurements are not identical. The Hall of Fame times the moment settlers launch, counted from server start. We can only see the finished village on a daily snapshot, which is later than launch because settlers still have to travel, and we only know the day. Read the records as a ceiling to admire, not as a fair figure to compare with a median. Their validation rules also exclude Advanced Start and Annual worlds, so the leaderboard covers standard servers only.

What a fast Travian second village looks like in practice

On 1x, settling before day 5 would put you ahead of three in four top-100 players (their quarter-way mark was 4.9 days). Settling around day 7 matches a casual player who is ahead of the pack, since a quarter of the casual players who settled were done by 6.9 days. On 2x the same marks are about 2 and 3.9 days, and on 3x about 1.2 and 2 days.

The pattern suggests that the opening days decide the gap. Fast openers keep resource fields growing, avoid wasting production against full storage, and finish the early quests, as described in our second village build order guide. You also need enough culture points, which the culture points guide explains. Our data cannot prove which habit causes a faster settle, but these are the same levers the build order is designed around.

How we measured these times

TraviTools records a public map snapshot of every tracked server each day at 00:01 UTC. We selected servers that began tracking within a day of their start and had a full 14 days of snapshots: 9 on 1x, 2 on 2x, 5 on 3x and 1 on 5x, for 13,101 accounts in the two groups (1,458 top players and 11,643 casual players). The server start time comes from the Travian server calendar.

For each account that was on the first snapshot with one village, we noted the first snapshot showing two or more villages and subtracted the server start. Because the snapshots are daily, each time carries an uncertainty of up to a day, so we shifted every time back by 12 hours, the middle of the capture gap. That is accurate on average across thousands of accounts but should not be read as exact for one player.

We excluded accounts that conquered a village before their second one, accounts that left the map, and accounts that did not grow between day 7 and day 14. Players who joined after the first snapshot are not included. The aggregate figures are published as a data file without any account identifiers. This is a snapshot of recent servers, not every server ever played, and it does not say which tribe or build order is fastest.

Common questions

How long does it take to settle a second village in Travian?

Among accounts that settled within our 14-day observation window, median times were about 6.0 days for top-100 players and 8.9 days for active casual players on 1x. On 2x they were 2.9 and 4.9 days; on 3x, 1.9 and 3.0 days. Only 62.5% of active casual players on 1x settled within the window, so their median does not describe all casual players.

What is the fastest a second village has been settled in Travian?

The Unofficial Travian Hall of Fame lists 76:41:03 (about 3.2 days) as the X1 leader, 27:57:20 on X2, 17:08:02 on X3, 10:10:09 on X5 and 5:40:24 on X10. Those times measure when settlers launch, not when the village is founded.

What counts as a fast second village on a 1x server?

Settling before day 5 would beat about three in four of the top-100 players we tracked, whose quarter-way mark was 4.9 days. Around day 7 is ahead of most casual players.

Should I compare myself with the median or the average?

Use the median to describe the middle account among those that settled within the observation window. The average can be influenced by very late settlers. Neither predicts your own settling date.
